Events for Our Members

It is our goal to organize a number (and variety) of events throughout the semester. The events for this semester are in the planning stage and will be announced shortly. We are very open to ideas and suggestions from our membership for possible events. Please contact one of your officers to let your voice be heard.

Social Events Committee

...was established to promote active involvement and participation by graduate students in artistic, cultural, and sporting events. The current members of this committee is presently being convened. If you are interested in being on this committee, please contact one of your officers.

Recurring Events

• In August's week zero, the departmental picnic takes place on the lawn south of SEO.
• Once the semester has gone under way, the Friday Teas start. Every Friday, graduate students (sometimes professors) organize the departmental tea at 4:00 pm in SEO 300. The sign-up-sheet will be placed on the MGSA bulletin board beside room SEO 330.
• Usually at the end of the Fall semester, we organize the Annual International Potluck Dinner, a very popular event. Everybody brings along some typical dish from his country, or some drinks, or simply participates in the organization of the event, helps decorating or cleaning up. A sign-up sheet will bes posted on the MGSA Bulletin Board beside room SEO 330.
• Sometimes, we organize little fun events like bowling nights, ping-pong tournaments etc. If you have an idea for a good social event that we should have, please let us know!

MGSA hopes to plan one or two social events for the department each semester. As soon as these are organized, the information will be posted here and an email will be sent out to our mailing list.
